Acme Corp · Cost stack

What really drives your network cost?

Modeled sample estate: Netos compares hardware, energy, labor and support costs by site tier; sparse data center successor prices limit that segment.

The cost mix

Where the five-year cost sits

Each bar shows the share of modeled cost by layer for one site tier and region. Branch, campus, and headquarters are led by hardware and labor. Data center bars remain indicative because priced successor coverage is low. Hardware cost is determined for more devices: many current data center models have no announced end of sale before the model window closes, so no replacement purchase falls inside it. The low hardware share does not establish a general data center cost mix.

Chart note: bar widths and labels each use positive layer costs as their denominator; each bar totals 100.0% before rounding. At headquarters, standard support costs less than the contracts it replaces, so the negative support adjustment is stated below each bar. The table retains signed shares of net modeled cost.

Data center hardware coverage

Priced successors measure devices with a successor hardware price. Hardware cost determined also includes devices with no purchase due during the model window. The data center mix remains indicative in every region.

Cisco successor hardware uses NASPO ValuePoint Cisco contract ceiling prices, effective 2026-10-01 where a successor is available. Other hardware prices remain synthetic. The support layer still uses synthetic standard OEM next-business-day prices; these cost-stack models were not recalculated with NASPO support prices.

The driver

Site tier changes the mix most

Across branch, campus, and headquarters, hardware ranges from 42.0% to 68.0% of cost and labor from 26.0% to 46.0%. Compare tiers before applying one budget assumption across the estate.

Practical levers

What moves the number

  • At data centers, price successor hardware for the installed models before reading the mix, then validate device power and facility efficiency for the energy layer.
  • For branch, campus, and headquarters, check successor choices and hardware pricing alongside the regional labor plan.
  • Review support contracts separately. At headquarters, moving to standard OEM next-business-day support costs less than the contracts it replaces in this model.

What was not measured, and why

Campus · Asia Pacific

Not modeled: no devices in this estate segment.

Data center · Asia Pacific

Insufficient data: no sourced facility efficiency or power figures for its energy layer.

Data center hardware

Partial: successor hardware prices cover only a few data center models, so the data center mix is shown as indicative and is not compared with other tiers.

Asia Pacific labor

Insufficient data: no sourced regional labor rate. A single-country rate would not represent the region.

Method and inputs

The model spans 5 years across 37 measured runs. Hardware means replace now with the vendor successor where one exists; energy means keep current devices at published tariffs, with no saving claimed from successor hardware; labor uses sourced regional rates; support means standard OEM next-business-day support. The chart shows modeled layer shares, not Acme’s observed spend. The five cases stand alone and are never added together.

Chart note. Shares are rounded for display. Cisco data center successor hardware uses public-sector contract ceiling prices where available; other hardware and all support prices are synthetic inputs. The negative headquarters support increment is a modeled contract replacement, not a comparison with observed spend. Asia Pacific has no complete 4-layer result and is excluded from the chart.
